Narrawong is situated at the mouth of the Surry River 18km from Portland along the Princes Highway. Lose yourself in a world of wonderful art, find yourself roaming the rows of Lavender or just be at one with nature but no matter what you fancy be sure not to miss what this little, yet wonderful town has to offer.
Patrolled during the summer months, the beach is great for swimming, beach combing or just walking the dog. Access to the beach from the Reserve area is across a footbridge over the Surry River. Keep an eye out for the Hooded Plover as this is a home for these lovely birds.
A kids playground is right at the edge of the beach so the young ones can enjoy a combination of beach and slides.

Surry River — easily accessible for fishing, kayaking or canoeing. Narrawong is where the Surry meets the sea.
Boat Ramp and Fishing Platform — located at the Narrawong Reserve. All abilities fishing platform allows easy access to the Surry River.
Bay of Whales Gallery & Coffee House — Open to the public every weekend, other times by appointment, the Gallery is attached to the residence of world renowned realist artist Brett Jarrett. Ph: 0414 494 707
Timandra by the Sea Garden — Open daily from 10am — 4pm this is a unique privately owned garden surrounded by tall trees and created using sustainability principles. Ph: 0418 825 625
Narrawong Lavender — Soaps, crèmes and pure oils all handmade on premises using the oil distilled using the traditional wood fired furnace method. Open by appointment. Ph: 0407 052 481
Mt Clay Sawpit Picnic Area — Suitable for day visitors or as a free camping location, there are plenty of walking and mountain bike trails and an amazing viewing area taking in the Portland Town and Bay.
Narrawong Cemetery – An historic cemetery where one of the first European settlers to the area, Captain William Dutton, is buried. It is of further significance as the burial site of three whalers who drowned in the rescue of the Julia shipwreck in 1863.
Events
Narrawong Mouth2Mouth – A fantastic annual community event, raising funds to support lifesaving on the Narrawong beach, as well as other local community projects.
The event starts with runs/walks (14km, 7km or 3km) along the beach and around the Surry River. There is even a kid’s lap of the oval. It finishes with a great carnival featuring local musicians, stalls, fabulous food, children’s activities and whale boat races.
There is a fantastic focus on health and fitness, with 3 running events tailored to all levels. Walkers are invited to register on-the-day at Narrawong Oval.
