Livingston Island Nature Walk Audio Guide

Livingston Island Nature Walk Audio Guide

Located at the mouth of the Lower Glenelg River at Nelson, Livingston Island has long been a favourite with visitors and locals alike.  The Nature Walk features a Boardwalk across saltmarsh, a Lookout and a Bird Hide.  The Island is a high visitation point for the Glenelg Estuary and Discovery Bay Ramsar site.  The views and birdlife are spectacular.

Nelson Coastcare’s volunteers have given the old disused guided walk an update and made an Audio Guide that can be downloaded from their website (nelsoncoastcare.org).

The new guide has seven podcast tracks that talk about the geography, history and ecology of the Island and its adjoining estuary, wetlands and bush.  The Audio Guide is free and suitable for all ages.

The Walk is an easy 2.8 kilometres with some steps and a slope near the Boardwalk.

The project was funded by the Victorian Government under a Coastcare Victoria Community Grant in 2023/2024.
